I'm going to change my psychiatrist because my current one doesn't want to change my medication even though it doesn't really work for me. I've been taking Prefaxine (150 mg in the morning) and Ranofren (5 mg in the evening) for almost 2 years now and since I've been taking them I no longer have dizziness, itching, insomnia, tension headache or dry mouth, breathing problems, skin discomfort and anxiety have lost their severity, but I still have reflux, worry, depression and social phobia. My current psychiatrist says that medication won't help me with everything and it's psychotherapy that is supposed to help me with what medication doesn't help me with, but can't I count on medication to eliminate emotional shallowness, racing thoughts, lack of appetite, lack of energy, lack of willingness to act, lack of physical strength, bad mood, cognitive impairment or some symptoms of social phobia? Because the current medications don't eliminate it for me, and I think it can be achieved with medication, only if only my psychiatrist would want to change it for me... I'm currently going to a psychologist, in about a year I'm going to see a psychotherapist, because I'm aware that medication won't eliminate all my symptoms, but I think that some of them will, just not the first medications selected by the psychiatrist, sometimes you have to change medications from 2 or 3 times until you find the right ones... And my psychiatrist stuck with the first ones, which only help me a little, not in general. So, is changing your psychiatrist a good move? Or is my current psychiatrist doing the right thing?
