When will the fever subside during Augmentin suspension therapy?

Hello. The daughter has been prescribed Augmentin in suspension since Friday due to the strong bacteria in her urine. The first two doses after about 2 hours vomited. 3, 4 and 5 doses taken normally. However, I am worried that the child has a temperature all the time. I give Paracetamol, but this fever recurs. How long does it take for the temperature to stabilize?

Gorączka powinna ustępować wraz ze skutecznym działaniem antybiotyku i niszczeniem bakterii odpowiedzialnych za infekcję dróg moczowych.

Nie ma sztywnych ram dotyczących procesu zdrowienia, ale uważa się, że brak poprawy (np. utrzymywanie się gorączki) po 48-72 godzinach od rozpoczęcia terapii jest wskazaniem do kontaktu z lekarzem. Trudno ocenić, na ile wymioty przy dwóch pierwszych dawkach po około 2 godzinach od zażycia mogły mieć wpływ na przebieg terapii. Oba składniki leku Augmentin szybko i dobrze wchłaniają się po podaniu doustnym, a maksymalne stężenie w osoczu pojawia się już po 1 godzinie od podania.

Nie można natomiast wykluczyć (o ile nie wykonano antybiogramu), że przepisany antybiotyk nie będzie skuteczny, coraz częściej obserwujemy bowiem zjawisko oporności bakterii na antybiotyki. W przypadku utrzymywania się gorączki proponowałabym kontakt telefoniczny z pediatrą.
