Could the pill not be absorbed if it got stuck in the throat for a while?
12.99 zł

Hello, I took the birth control pill from the second week and drank a small amount of water, which caused it to get stuck in my throat, so I drank more water, but for a few hours I felt like it was in my esophagus... Could the pill not be absorbed?
I will add that I was recovering all the time, but there was no vomiting.

To @Maaat:

As mentioned below, there is no way for a tablet to get "stuck" in the esophagus.

Yes, in the described situation, the protection is maintained. Placebo tablets have no active substances, they are designed to help you use the drug regularly. The occurrence of one loose stool 10 minutes after taking the active pill also has no effect on the effectiveness of contraception. You can rest assured.

Because it was only after a few hours that I felt relief in my esophagus... I will also ask if I had diarrhea in the placebo and after taking 1 active tablet from the new blister I had diarrhoea 10 minutes later, then it didn't happen anymore, do I have protection preserved?

And is it possible that it has died in the esophagus?

It is not possible for the contraceptive pill to get stuck in the throat. During swallowing, the tablet could irritate the throat wall, hence the feeling as if the tablet was still in the throat and the aforementioned scratching and irritation.

There is also no way that the pill will "return unnoticed" to the throat without vomiting.

Since you have taken the tablet with water and you have not vomited, the effect of the drug is preserved. The pill has been absorbed and the contraceptive protection is maintained.

If you experience throat irritation, the use of a moisturizer based on Icelandic lichen can bring quick relief. Such preparations are available without a prescription and will allow you to restore comfort.
