Hello, I have been taking activia daily contraceptive pills for 3 years now. Recently, after finishing the blister, my withdrawal bleeding delayed for a whole day. 2 days before bleeding, my underwear had discharge or other stains, yellow/brown in color. Eventually, bleeding occurred, but only for one day, the next day and the next day clean.
What is going on? Is this normal? Could fertilization have occurred?

Withdrawal bleeding can vary in intensity depending on the cycle, and the occurrence of scanty, short bleeding is not a cause for concern.
Withdrawal bleeding is the shedding of the lining of the uterus caused by the withdrawal of hormones for the duration of the placebo break/use. Since one of the mechanisms of action of hormonal contraception is to limit endometrial growth, often (although not always) bleeding when using this method may be less heavy. Bleeding often becomes less heavy if the patient uses the contraceptive pill for a long time (the endometrium becomes thinner than at the beginning of use). Lower intensity and volume of bleeding causes the blood to stay longer in the genital tract, become oxidized to a greater extent and may have a darker color - brown discharge observed at the beginning of the break.
