And what does it mean shortly after that? 3 min after? If about 15 min - 30 min it will not affect. Short 3 min type time - there are basically no studies that would confirm or deny that alcohol affects the absorption of birth control pills.

And if I took a pill without drinking and shortly after I drank mulled wine, will it have any effect?

Mulled wine does not affect the effectiveness of oral contraception as long as the tablets are not drunk with it.
