What if I removed the disc a week earlier than recommended?

The Nuvaring disc should be placed in the vagina for 3 weeks. Both shorter and longer use of the same disc can reduce the effectiveness of contraception. Please put on a new disc and use it for another 3 weeks (withdrawal bleeding will occur only after removing the disc) or remove it after 1 week, as you suggest, but it is not necessary. For the first 7 days, additional mechanical contraception (e.g. a condom) is necessary.
