Can midcyclical spotting occur once after a few months?

Hi I have been taking birth control pills for several months, at the beginning I had mid-cycle spotting but since the last 2 months they have ceased to occur. Today I had a very modest brown spotting, is there a possibility that it was mid-cycle spotting again? (I will add that in 4 days I start a placebo) I'm starting to panic that it could be implant spotting due to the fact that midcyclic spotting hasn't occurred since these 2 months. Can it appear again after these two months?

The occurrence of mid-cycle spotting or their recurrence after a few months of using hormonal contraception is an indication for contact with a gynecologist. This does not necessarily mean that something bad is happening right away, but the doctor should check if there are any medical conditions causing it. If you take birth control pills correctly and systematically, the risk of pregnancy, and thus possible implant spotting, is very small.
