EllaOne can be the cause of heavy menstruation - menstrual disorders are possible, although an uncommon side effect.
The drug's documentation states that "if your menstrual period is more than 7 days late, unusually scanty or unusually heavy; you will experience symptoms such as abdominal (stomach) pain, breast tenderness, nausea or vomiting, it is possible that you have become pregnant. A pregnancy test should be taken immediately." So you can take a pregnancy test to be sure, e.g.:
