Good morning, I've been taking Belara pills for about 2 years. I'm currently in the middle of an eight-month trip around Europe. I'll be in Albania for the next month, and my three-month supply of Belari prescribed by a Polish gynecologist is running low. A pharmacist in Tirana said that in Albanian pharmacies I would not find Belari or a groan equivalent, Yasmin suggested to me. If I am unable to purchase Belari or its substitute, can I purchase Yasmin? Thank you in advance for your reply.

You should discuss this change with your doctor. Both of the medicines you mentioned (Belara and Yasmin) are contraceptives, but they contain different active ingredients in different doses. Changing the contraceptive medication can affect the body, and the choice of a particular preparation depends on many factors, such as the patient's health, possible medical conditions, susceptibility to side effects, as well as the patient's preferences.
If you want to change your contraceptive pills, you should take a 7-day break after finishing the Belara blister and start taking Yasmin afterwards. Contraceptive protection will then be maintained.
