According to the summary of product characteristics for Vibin, the tablets should be taken at approximately the same time each day in the order indicated on the blister.
If you forget to take a tablet, follow the instructions in the leaflet. The contraceptive effectiveness depends on the week in which we forgot to take the medicine.
Week 1. - If you remember to miss a dose, take the last missed tablet immediately, even if it means taking two tablets at the same time. The next tablets should be taken at the usual time. In addition, you should also use barrier contraception, such as condoms, for the next 7 days. If you have had intercourse in the previous 7 days, the possibility of pregnancy should be taken into account. The more tablets you miss and the shorter the interval between when you miss them and when you take the placebo tablets, the higher your risk of getting pregnant.
Week 2. - If you remember to miss a dose, take the last missed tablet immediately, even if it means taking two tablets at the same time. The next tablets should be taken at the usual time. If you have used the correct dosage within 7 days before you forget to take a tablet, you do not need to use additional contraceptives. However, if you miss more than 1 tablet, you will need to use an additional method of contraception for 7 days.
Week 3. - There is a significant risk of reducing the effectiveness of the method due to the approaching 7-day period of taking placebo tablets. However, by adjusting the dosing regimen accordingly, a reduction in contraceptive efficacy can be prevented.
To sum up, the risk of pregnancy is correlated with the week of use of the pills and also depends on when you took the missed tablet.
