For 6 months I have been taking birth control pills atywia daily, I always take them at the same time but rather never with an accuracy of the hour due to the working time, once I happen to take the pill at 6 and another day at 10. I note that I have never missed any. I know that you can be late with taking the tablet up to 12 hours. However, do such 4-5 hour differences have any significant impact on their effectiveness?

In order for birth control pills to do their job and protect against pregnancy, they must be taken regularly and at the same time every day, so as to maintain a constant level of hormones in the body that stops ovulation. It is estimated that between 50 and 65% of unplanned pregnancies are the result of contraceptive failure.
A delay of 4-5 hours should not significantly affect the effectiveness of contraception, and how much it is incidental. However, in such a situation, intracyclic spotting may appear, with preserved protection.
