What is the difference between menstruation and withdrawal bleeding?

She uses hormonal contraception Aktywia Daily. I took 1 placebo tablet and on the next day I was already bleeding / period. I'm not sure if it's withdrawal bleeding or period, because I have to get my period in 4 days and I don't know if I just didn't get it earlier and it's not withdrawal bleeding at all. Please help.

Bleeding occurring during the use of placebo tablets is not physiological menstruation, but so-called withdrawal bleeding. When using birth control pills, there is no menstrual bleeding, which is a natural process in the body, consisting of desquamation of the endometrial mucosa, accompanied by bleeding. During the use of hormonal contraception, however, there is a so-called withdrawal bleeding, which is the body's reaction to a decrease in hormone concentration under the influence of starting to use placebo tablets that do not contain hormones. It usually occurs on the 2-3rd day after the end of the use of active tablets containing hormones, but this is not a rule.
