Both drugs are used to treat depression and anxiety disorders, but the mechanism of action is slightly different. Zoloft contains setralin, which belongs to the group of SSRIs - serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Velaxin ER (venlafaxine) is a group of SNRIs, i.e. a drug that inhibits the uptake of two messengers - serotonin and norepinephrine, so its use may be a little wider.
