Schizophrenia is a complex mental illness and there are various possible reasons why some people develop it - such as genes, social, environmental, developmental and psychological conditions, injuries, infections, traumatic experiences. Schizophrenia can and should be treated - patients who regularly take medication and follow the psychiatrist's recommendations have a chance for so-called remission, i.e. resolution or significant alleviation of symptoms, which allows for improved functioning in life. Sometimes the periods of remission are very long, however, the risk of relapse exists and must be taken into account. Therefore, the word "cure" is not used in relation to schizophrenia. Premature and independent discontinuation of antipsychotics or their irregular use increases the risk of relapse or worsening of the disease. Methods supporting schizophrenia are psychoeducation, psychotherapy or occupational therapy, but they do not replace pharmacotherapy, i.e. taking medication: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja I enclose our materials that may interest you: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/leki-na-schizofrenie https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-zyc-ze-schizofrenia
