Hello, I had intercourse with my partner, (according to my calendar it was the day before ovulation) on the second day (i.e. ovulation according to the calendar) around 12 o'clock I took an ellaOne tablet, about 6 p.m. there was a slight spotting. What is the chance that the pill did not work?

ellaOne is effective if it was used before ovulation occurred. The effectiveness of the preparation is approx. 97%. ellaOne shows the highest effectiveness when taken within the first 24 hours after intercourse: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/87820/ellaone-tabletki/apteki Spotting is one of the side effects of ellaOne. It does not reduce or increase the effectiveness of the preparation. I encourage you to report the occurrence of spotting after using the tablet. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over medicines available on the market. Using only the calendar-based method is considered an ineffective method of contraception. I encourage you to consult a gynecologist in order to choose the right method of contraception for you.
