What does it mean that my ovaries are dormant?

Hello. She is taking birth control pills and during a visit to the gynecologist I heard that my ovaries are "dormant", is this tantamount to the fact that fertilization cannot result in this? So the doctor meant that contraception works properly? Does it mean anything else?

And is it possible to ovulate with such "dormant" ovaries?

Most likely, the doctor meant that there are no visible signs of ovulation - if there is no ovulation, then fertilization is not possible.
