I took Ellaone within 1 hour of having intercourse. The length of my cycles often fluctuates and the day of intercourse fell on the 35th day of the cycle. I would like to add that for several days preceding intercourse I have been feeling breast tenderness, which is always a symptom of my approaching period. A tablet such as EllaOne, containing ulipristal acetate, inhibits or delays ovulation. In the event that ovulation has already occurred, ulipristal acetate is no longer effective. Since the real assessment of whether or not ovulation has occurred is very difficult, the drug can be taken in any phase of the cycle up to 120 hours after unprotected intercourse. If you menstruate irregularly, it is all the more difficult to assess whether the 35th day of the cycle was the day before or after ovulation and answer how much EllaOne could actually work. If the 35th day of the cycle was generally close to menstruation and you feel discomfort characteristic of the second phase of the cycle, it is possible that the day of intercourse was simply an infertile day. An answer regarding pregnancy can be obtained by taking a pregnancy test at the right time, if bleeding does not occur.
