Does an intrauterine device give a lower risk of thrombosis than birth control pills?

Hello, will a hormonal IUD be better than birth control pills in case of increased thrombotic risk? Does the fact that these hormones act more locally reduce the risk of thrombosis a little? Best regards

Intrauterine devices are one of the preferred forms of hormonal contraception in women at increased risk of thrombosis. It is believed that the estrogenic component of contraceptives is responsible for thromboembolic complications, and hormonal inserts contain only progestin and act primarily topically. In patients at risk, the use of other progestogen-only agents may also be considered: minipills (single-component tablets) or an implant. To choose the best method of contraception for you, you should consult a gynecologist.
