Good morning, I got a slight spotting while taking the antibiotic on the contraceptive pill (I have not had intercourse since the beginning of the package, today I will take the 8th tablet). If I protect myself additionally for the entire period of antibiotic therapy and 7 days after that, despite these spottings, will the protection be maintained later? I don't want to skip the break. Best regards

Yes, after 7 days after the end of antibiotic therapy, protection will be maintained, even if spotting occurs. Contraceptive pills should be used as before. There is no need to skip the 7-day break for bleeding. However, it should be borne in mind that the bleeding profile in this and the next cycle may be slightly changed - withdrawal bleeding may not occur on time, spotting or mid-cycle bleeding may occur. This does not mean a weakening of the contraceptive effectiveness of the pills (7 days after the end of antibiotic treatment).
