Will I be protected from pregnancy 7 days after i put the NuvaRing disc on the fifth day of the cycle?

Is it already working properly when applying NuvaRing for the first time and not using contraceptives such as tablets for the first time? I have never used hormonal contraception before, and when I put on my first puck, I put it on the 5th day of menstruation - according to the leaflet it should work after 7 days, but I still wonder if when it is my first put on the puck is whether it will work after these 7 days? Without knowing this I feel some kind of uncertainty, so please help and answer :)
