Can diltiazem ointment cause nausea, weakness and dizziness and interact with Glucophage, Co-Valsacor and Lercan?

When applied topically, diltiazem (e.g. in the anal area) is usually absorbed into the blood in small amounts, but in some people it can cause side effects such as dizziness, weakness or nausea. Interactions with drugs such as Glucophage (metformin), Co-Valsacor (valsartan with hydrochlorothiazide) and Lercan (lercanidipine) are not typical, but diltiazem can additionally affect blood pressure, so it is worth controlling them when using blood pressure lowering drugs at the same time.

A history of gastroenteritis and duodenum may be important if you still have gastrointestinal complaints, as nausea can also have other causes. Please pay attention to whether the symptoms appeared only after starting the use of the ointment and whether they worsen after application. It is worth consulting a doctor, especially if dizziness or weakness is pronounced, fainting, very low blood pressure or symptoms persist. Until clarified, please do not increase the dose of the ointment beyond the recommended dose.
