Is bleeding after intercourse a cause for concern?

Hello. Today I had sex with my boyfriend. The last time we did this was a few days ago. Immediately after intercourse, we noticed bleeding in me. It is strange because I should get my period on Saturday (it is very regular because I take anti pills), and during the intercourse itself I did not feel any pain or discomfort. Should this be a cause for concern?

As a rule, intercourse should not be the cause of vaginal bleeding. When using birth control pills for the first few months of use, mid-cyclic spotting may occur. If such bleeding or spotting persists for more than a few months or suddenly appears after a few months of trouble-free use of the drug, the gynecologist should check the cause. Unusual vaginal bleeding does not necessarily mean a disease or problem, but without a stationary consultation with a doctor, it cannot be clearly stated.
