Lokren contains betaxolol, which belongs to a group of drugs commonly called betablockers. Symbicort turbuhaler contains the steroid budesonide and formoterol, a drug from the group of betamimetics. According to the summary of product characteristics, the effects of formoterol may be impaired or inhibited by betablockers. Therefore, Symbicort should not be used concomitantly with betablockers (e.g. Lokren) unless there are absolute indications. If the prescribing doctor has been informed about all the medications you are taking, he has certainly assessed the risks and benefits of combining these preparations. In case of doubt about using them together, I recommend consulting a doctor ordering therapy, drugs on their own should not be discontinued, and abrupt withdrawal carries the risk of a "rebound effect".
