Good morning, 4 hours of taking the contraceptive pill I gave a loose stool? Is the protection preserved?

Good morning, 4 hours of taking the contraceptive pill I gave a watery stool, then after another 3 hours I was in the toilet 2 more times in a row and it cleaned me very much with water. On this diarrhea fixes. Is the tablet absorbed?

If diarrhea occurred after 4 hours after taking the drug, it does not affect the effectiveness of hormonal contraception. For example, if you use the tablet regularly at 7 am, if diarrhea occurred after 11 o'clock, it does not affect the effectiveness of the drug. On the other hand, the occurrence of diarrhea between 7 and 11 hours reduces the contraceptive effectiveness of the drug used.

Thank you very much Mrs. Ewo because Mrs. Joanna very twisted the topic .... I asked the doctor who says that after 4 hours diarrhea is not dangerous. On foreign sites there is information that diarrhea lasting 48 hours threatens as well as chronic diarrhea. On Italian and Spanish sites he writes that diarrhea does not threaten at all that only vomiting is dangerous ... There is no research. On english sites, however, it is that the occurrence of 6 to 8 diarrheal h of stools prompts the use of a condom. I write as if someone was looking here. What is the truth, unfortunately, there is probably no chance to find out

I do not really understand your answer because earlier you write that if diarrhea occurs after 4 hours it means that contraception is not now that it is ... It's terribly confusing

In the fourth hour it means between 3 and 4 yes?

If a period of more than 4 hours has passed since the use of the drug, the effectiveness of contraception is preserved, the tablet has been absorbed. However, if diarrhea occurs in the fourth hour after taking the preparation, there is a possibility of malabsorption.

So if my diarrhea started 4 hours after taking the pill, am I protected or not?

When answering your questions, we are guided by the indications contained in the Summary of Product Characteristics. Below I attach the content of the Characteristics, informing that if within 3-4 hours of taking the tablet there are gastrointestinal disorders, absorption may be disturbed.

In another question where the girl took the pills at 6 p.m. and vomited at 2 a.m., you advised taking another pill. Are you aware that you gave the wrong advice? Ukotka speaks clearly about 4 hours.

So why is the leaflet information that the pill is absorbed for 4 hours?

The occurrence of diarrhea after 4 hours after taking the drug may interfere with the absorption of the tablet. Absorption may not be complete.

The occurrence of gastrointestinal disorders, including diarrhea 3-4 hours after taking the tablet, may result in a decrease in the effectiveness of contraception. In this case, you should take an additional tablet within 12 hours, if the tablet is not taken within 12 hours, you should follow the instructions for the procedure depending on which week of use of the tablets diarrhea occurred. In order to grant and verify the procedure, it is necessary to provide the name of the preparation.

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
