He takes two-component contraceptive pills. I took all the tablets from the blister regularly and watched out for interactions. I am currently in the middle of a 7-day break. My bleeding is rather scanty, and the blood is red-brown in color, darker than usual. Is this form of withdrawal bleeding normal? Can withdrawal bleeding be mild and dark?

To @alicja56: Yes, this is a completely normal situation and there is no reason to worry.
Thank you for your reply. So I understand that if I systematically took the pills while maintaining their regularity, but still the bleeding is more brown / dark (it is not a slight spotting, but it is also not intense - it occurred on the day that it should and I feel abdominal pain as with menstruation only lighter, but I have to use protections such as insoles and tampons) then I should not worry? Is it reasonably correct? I mean, withdrawal bleeding can take this form and is normal then?

Withdrawal bleeding is not a physiological menstruation - it is an exfoliation of the endometrium caused by the "artificial" withdrawal of hormones for the duration of the break. Since one of the mechanisms of action of hormonal contraception is to limit the growth of the endometrium, often (although not always) bleeding is less abundant when using the method. The lower intensity and volume of bleeding causes the blood to stay in the genital tract longer, to a greater oxidation and may have a darker color.
