When using hormonal contraception, menstruation does not occur as it happens physiologically, only withdrawal bleeding. A lot depends on what tablets we change and whether we use the new packaging immediately after the last tablet of the previous ones, or whether we take a break / use placebo tablets. Bleeding or spotting may or may not occur before the body "adapts to the change."
