Hello, I have a question about nuvaring contraceptive discs, so I'm going abroad and wondering how to transport the discs that must be in the refrigerator and driving one way will take about 21 hours. Please advise. Best regards

To @Lucy: as I wrote below, the drug after dispensing from the pharmacy for up to four months is stored at a temperature of up to 30 degrees Celsius. The manufacturer does not provide information on durability in a situation other than that described in the drug documentation, which clearly describes that after breaking the cold chain after release from the pharmacy, the drug is stored at a temperature of up to 30 degrees Celsius for up to 4 months. The documentation does not contain information on what the shelf life will look like if the drug was taken out of the refrigerator, was transported without a heat-insulating bag (?), put in the refrigerator at home, removed from the refrigerator at home for transport abroad and put back in the refrigerator in a new place. I suggest simply following the guidelines from the leaflet of the drug - the product released from the pharmacy can be stored outside the refrigerator at a temperature of up to 30 degrees to 4 months, regardless of whether during this time you will keep it at home or transport it somewhere for 21 hours. A drug taken out once from the refrigerator should not be put back into it - it is difficult in such a situation to say how this affects its stability and how much time it can be safely used actually in this case. The impact may be small, but the guarantee is provided by following the manufacturer's guidelines. If you are leaving for more than 4 months, I suggest you be interested in the possibility of buying the drug at your place of stay.
So I can take the disc out of the fridge, transport it for those 21 hours and when I arrive at the place I can put it back in the fridge? Can such actions weaken the disc?

According to the documentation, Nuvaring is stored in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) for a maximum of 3 years before dispensing the medicinal product to the patient. At the time of issue, the pharmacist should indicate the date of release of the product on the packaging. NuvaRing should be used no later than 4 months from the date of issue, but in all cases it should be used before the expiration date depending on - depending on what comes first. After dispensing the medicinal product to the patient, the product may be stored at a temperature below 30°C for a maximum of 4 months, provided that storage takes place in the original package in order to protect against light and moisture.
