Yes, you can treat this time as a 7-day break for withdrawal bleeding, but it has very important consequences for your protection against pregnancy. You don't have to apply the patch immediately today. You can finish this premature break and apply a new patch after a full 7 days, remembering the need to additionally protect yourself with a condom for the near future.
Since you skipped the 3rd week of using the patches and took a break a week earlier, your current "Patch Change Day" is changing. You must apply the new patch exactly after 7 days of break (i.e. on the 8th day after peeling off the previous one). This day will become your new "Patch Change Day" for the next cycles.
Example: If you peeled off the patch on Wednesday, you must apply a new patch from the new packaging on the following Wednesday.
Shortening the patch cycle (applying only 2 patches instead of 3 in a cycle) carries the risk of weakening the contraceptive effect. Therefore, you must use an additional mechanical method of contraception (e.g. a condom) throughout the current 7-day break and for the first 7 days of wearing a new patch. Full protection will only be restored after 7 days of continuous use of the new patch.
If you have had unprotected intercourse in the last few days (while wearing the 2nd patch or just after it has been peeled off), there is a risk of getting pregnant because the body may have started ovulation prematurely. In such a situation, it is worth consulting a gynaecologist to consider taking emergency contraception (the so-called after pill).
