Hydroxyzine should be taken after meals and washed down with water. The tablets should not be chewed.

The manufacturer of the medicine may use coating of the tablets to reduce the risk of irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, to mask any repulsive taste or odour, to prevent the active substance from being released too quickly from the tablet (which may affect the overall effect of the medicine). Crushing the preparation may cause a change in its effect and/or increase the risk of adverse reactions.
