It is worth checking what the cause of hip pain is, especially in the case of recurrent ailments. Pain associated with inflammation in the course of degenerative disease, rheumatic disease or after injury is best alleviated with oral anti-inflammatory preparations, unless there are contraindications to the use of drugs from this group. Over-the-counter products include: Ibuprofen, Dexak, Opokan, Ketonal, Naproxen, Voltaren Actiforte. They differ in strength and duration of action and safety profile. Caution should be exercised when taking Ketonal due to its highly irritating effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Ketonal should only be used on an ad hoc basis. The safest drug in this group is Ibuprofen, but it should be remembered that each of these substances can have side effects. Anti-inflammatory drugs should not be used on an empty stomach and in the form of long-term treatments. Stronger preparations - newer generation anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Coxitex) and combinations of paracetamol and tramadol (e.g. Doreta, Poltram Combo) are available with a doctor's prescription.
