I'm afraid it's a bit too late to do anything. Hormonal contraception is started on the 1st day of your period. Taking the pills earlier (contrary to the manufacturer's recommendations) is unlikely to stop menstruation - patients starting contraception very rarely observe a reduction in bleeding. In addition, irregular spotting is more common in the first cycles (as well as other side effects such as headaches, stomach aches, breast tenderness), so you may make the situation even worse.

There are medications that can postpone menstruation - they are issued with a doctor's prescription and should be taken on certain days of the cycle. You can talk to your gynaecologist about it.
