Hello. A 5-year-old child took 2 doses of 4ml Rupafin syrup today. Could something happen? Unfortunately, no contact with a doctor.

According to the leaflet: No cases of overdose have been reported in adults and children. In a clinical safety study in adults, rupatadine 100 mg daily for 6 days was well tolerated. The most common adverse reaction was somnolence. So your daughter may just be a bit more lethargic, but other than that - nothing bad will happen. Observe your child, and in the future, for the sake of mental comfort, try to note somewhere that the medicine has already been administered on a given day. Have a quiet day :)

What is the baby's body weight? Generally, children from 2-11 years old (depending on their weight) are given 2.5-5 ml of syrup per day. If your child has been given 8ml - in my opinion nothing bad should happen, the toddler may be a bit more sleepy and lethargic. If you notice any other side effects (rash, nausea, vomiting), please contact your doctor. However, there is a very low probability that something like this will happen.
