Good morning
I've had a Mirena insert for 3 years now. During this time she did not have menstrual periods, sometimes slight spotting.
In January, the 4th year began and I started to have menstruation( not abundant) and all the ailments associated with it, swollen breasts, abdominal pain and pain when "giving birth" to an egg. Does this mean that my cartridge should be replaced?
Thank you for your reply

Sudden onset of bleeding and symptoms associated with ovulation should be consulted with a doctor. The IUD may have been expelled and does not perform its contraceptive or bleeding reduction function.
The Mirena system prevents pregnancy (has a contraceptive effect) for 8 years after insertion. If the patient is using the Mirena system for this reason, the system should be removed or replaced after 8 years at the latest. In the case when the system is used in the treatment of excessive menstrual bleeding, its effectiveness is 5 years. Then the system should be removed or replaced when excessive menstrual bleeding returns, or after 8 years at the latest.
