Can I combine ESCITALOPRAM and LOPERAMIDE? I'm taking Symestical 5mg a day but I got poisoned by something and took a stoperan tablet. The doctor says that up to two pills can be taken. If I took symestical at 9 a.m. and stopwatch at 7 p.m., could I have any side effects?

Theoretically, Loperamide in combination with antidepressants may increase the risk of heart rhythm disorders, but there have been no precise clinical trials that would assess the real risks of taking both drugs at the same time. Escitalopram does not increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias in a clinically significant way, so it can be assumed that the use of these drugs at standard therapeutic doses does not require the implementation of additional procedures - especially if the drugs were taken at a different time of the day. Caution is indicated in case of higher doses or long-term treatment.
