Good morning. I have a second mirena spiral. The first for 5 years and the second I have already a year. Throughout this period of these two spirals I had menstruation, ie two-day spotting, always regularly every 27.28 days. This month is the 30th day of the cycle and there is no menstruation. I even did a negative test, whether I did it too early or so suddenly menstruation can already disappear, because with mirena it is possible. However, I am concerned that they have been so far. I greet and ask for an answer

No bleeding necessarily means pregnancy and may not occur until some time after starting contraception. Please note that when using hormonal contraception there is no place in the body natural menstrual cycle (as without contraception), there is no ovulation and bleeding may also not occur at all. According to the manufacturer of the Mirena system, rare bleeding and/or no bleeding may occur in about 20% of women of childbearing age who use the Mirena system. At the end of the 8th year of use of the system, rare bleeding and no bleeding occur in 26% and 34% of women using Mirena, respectively. The possibility of pregnancy should be considered if more than six weeks have passed since the last menstrual period. If this is the case - it is worth consulting a doctor. Before inserting a new IUD, the doctor re-assesses whether there are any contraindications. However, if you have any doubts about your health, I encourage you to contact your doctor.
