Is there a contraceptive system, e.g. a disc, which has the same composition as an intrauterine insert? I have migraines with aura and I'm afraid that putting on the insert may cause headaches so before I put it on I want to test the ad hoc solution. Of course, I will consult my neurologist. I just wanted to know if there is an equivalent.

What 6 year old inserts do we have and which manufacturers? I would like to read about them. The doctor told me about some German but I did not write down and I can not remember ...

In women who have migraine with aura, the doctor may consider using a single-component contraceptive. Two-component preparations are considered contraindicated when migraine with aura occurs. This is due to the increased risk of ischemic stroke, which further increases the estrogen content in complex preparations. Vaginal discs available on the market are two-component preparations, most likely not recommended in your case. At the moment, there are no single-component tablets containing only levonorgestrel (the active substance of intrauterine devices). However, one-component preparations with a progesterone component in the form of tablets are available. These are preparations containing, for example, desogestrel (e.g. Cerazette, Limetic) or drospirenone (e.g. Slinda). If you are afraid of migraine attacks after inserting the IUD, you may want to try one-component tablets before using the intrauterine system, it is worth considering with your doctor.
