About 3 weeks ago I was taking an Ellaone tablet. A week after application, my legs began to hurt, and today, 3 weeks after application, a fairly large vein has become prominent behind the leg behind the knee, which was not there before. Can this condition be dangerous, e.g. thrombosis, etc.? I should take some medication for thinning blood such as acetylsalicylic acid or for strengthening vessels of the Venescin type, should the condition of the vessels return to normal over time?

Venous thrombosis is not a typical side effect of EllaOne emergency contraception. The cause of the enlarged vein and leg pain may be different, but if it is accompanied by additional symptoms, e.g. fever, swelling of the leg with an enlarged vein, warming and redness of the limb, a medical consultation is indicated. Drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid do not work in the venous system, venous thrombotic episodes are treated with other substances, e.g. small-molecule heparins or oral anticoagulants of the new generation. Venescin, on the other hand, is a drug containing horse chestnut extracts, which is designed to reduce m.in swelling, pain caused by chronic venous insufficiency.
