As I understand it, you mean the treatment of achalasia, the characteristic symptom of which is the impairment of diastole of the lower esophageal sphincter. You can find information that nitrates are used in pharmacotherapy (e.g. isosorbide dinitrate - currently not available in POLSce) and calcium channel blockers (e.g. nifedipine - currently unavailable in Poland), but due to the fact that they work for a short time (an hour - one and a half) and have to be taken often, and generally cause headaches, I can not confirm whether doctors in Poland actually reach for this solution. Information can be found that pharmacotherapy is the least effective solution and is offered to patients who cannot undergo the procedure or in whom botulinum toxin injections no longer work. It seems that patients are offered rather endoscopic treatment and mechanical expansion of the esophagus and injection of botulinum toxin, which locally paralyzes the nerve endings and relaxes the sphincter. The most information from practice could be provided by your gastrologist: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja
