The mechanism of action of doxepine contained in Doxepin is based mainly on the inhibition of serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake in the nervous system. The effect of this drug on the concentration of dopamine in the central nervous system is not significant. To a very small extent, this drug inhibits dopamine reuptake and weakly blocks dopaminergic receptors, however, this is not relevant to the main mechanism of action of the drug.
