If I don't get my period, can I take the pill on any given day?

I would like to discontinue the Vines contraceptive pill. I have recurrent infections and the doctor recommended that I think about it. I was offered a ring, but to be honest I read that it was best to stop all hormones for the time of infection. She does not want to get pregnant and wants to return to pills after some time. If I don't get my period, which is rather certain, because I've been taking pills for several years, can I take the pill on any day, not the first day of the cycle?

It is impossible to prejudge that menstruation will definitely not return due to the long use of tablets. After discontinuation of Vines tablets, fertility may return already in the first cycle after withdrawal bleeding, even after several years of using the drug. The way indicated by the manufacturer to start a Vines blister - if you have not used hormone-containing contraceptives in the previous month - is to take the first pill on the first day of the cycle (i.e. on the first day of menstrual bleeding). Another way to start taking Vines should be agreed with the gynecologist, in such cases it is important to reliably exclude pregnancy. Starting a blister in the middle of a cycle does not provide immediate protection against pregnancy.
