Hello, I have been taking Zoloft 50 for several days and I feel side effects such as nausea, weakness, diarrhea and confusion. Are these "normal" side effects at the beginning of an SSRI? Can I reduce the dose to 25 and after two weeks start taking 50 to reduce these symptoms?

Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people) side effects of Zoloft are diarrhoea and nausea. Weakness may occur in no more than 1 in 10 people. "Confusion" is not listed as a side effect of Setaloft, but there are other side effects that could cause you to experience this type of effect, such as tiredness, strange feelings or lack of concentration. Sometimes the side effects of medications used for mental illnesses are more severe at the beginning of therapy. If the observed side effects are unacceptable to you, you should contact the doctor who deals with your case regarding the change of dosage.
