Does Hibiscus reduce the effect of Evra patches? I read that hibiscus reacts with estrogen-based hormonal drugs. By drinking one infusion of about two teaspoons of hibiscus flower, is there a risk of reducing the effectiveness of Evra?

I do not find any studies on the effect of hibiscus flower infusion on the effectiveness of hormonal contraception. A 1997 study indicated an increase in estrogen production in mice after administration of hibiscus flower extract (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9255415/). Such action would not reduce the effectiveness of contraception and could possibly increase the risk of side effects. In addition, it should be borne in mind that polyphenolic compounds responsible for the estrogenic activity of hibiscus flowers pass to hot water to a small extent (i.e. their content in tea will be negligible). Therefore, the infusion of hibiscus flowers will not affect the effectiveness of Evra contraceptive patches. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/28646/evra-system-transdermalny/ulotka Below are materials that may be of interest to you: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/blog/historia-antykoncepcji-metody-zapobiegania-ciazy-kiedys-i-dzis https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-prawidlowo-stosowac-antykoncepcje https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jakie-leki-oslabiaja-skutecznosc-antykoncepcji
