Wydaje się mało prawdopodobne, by "tiki oczne" miały związek z antybiotykoterapią. Nie da się "oczyścić" organizmu po terapii antybiotykowej. Biorąc pod uwagę szybkość eliminacji wspomnianych antybiotyków z organizmu, można stwierdzić, że po kilku tygodniach leki zostały całkowicie wydalone.
Szacuje się, że tzw. tiki nerwowe mogą dotyczyć nawet 1/4 dzieci i młodzieży w wieku szkolnym. W większości przypadków objawy ustępują samoistnie i nie wymagają farmakoterapii.
W przypadku utrzymywania się objawów należy zasięgnąć porady lekarza pediatry, w dalszej kolejności neurologa bądź okulisty.
