Tramadol jest pojedynczą substancją czynną, nie mieszanką kilku, zatem nie - nie tworzy się go na bazie narkotyków, natomiast należy do opiodiów, czyli narkotycznych substancji przeciwbólowych. Jest to słaby opioid.
