Czas trwania leczenia powinien być możliwie najkrótszy. Leczenie zwykle trwa od kilku dni do dwóch tygodni, a maksymalnie 4 tygodnie, łącznie z etapem odstawiania zolpidemu.
Okres półtrwania w osoczu w fazie eliminacji wynosi około 2,4 godziny (0,7–3,5 godzin).
Zamiana z zolpidemu na lorazepam jest możliwa, jednak powinna być przeprowadzona stopniowo i po konsultacji z lekarzem.
