A pregnancy test performed on the day of your expected period should show a reliable result. Emergency contraception can cause a change in cycle control, including a delay in the onset of menstrual bleeding. If menstruation does not occur within the next few days, the test should be repeated. I encourage you to discuss with your gynaecologist the possibility of implementing permanent contraception, such as an IUD or one- or two-component pills.
