During intercourse, I took out the disc for 2 hours, rinsed it with warm water and put it back in. Did I do the right thing?

During sexual intercourse, I took out the ring in a new ring for two hours, then rinsed it with warm water and put the same ring again. Did I do the right thing? A day after the procedure, an aching pain appeared, like before menstrual. Can you give me any advice?

It is not recommended to remove the NuvaRing for two hours and reinsert it after rinsing with warm water. This can affect contraceptive effectiveness and increase the risk of unwanted pregnancy. There is no need to remove the NuvaRing for sexual intercourse. The ring should remain in the vagina for the entire period of use, i.e. 3 weeks in a row.

Pain similar to menstrual pain that occurs the next day may be the result of irritation or improper use of the disc. If the pain persists or worsens, you should consult your doctor to rule out more serious problems.
