Vagifem, which contains estradiol, is a topical medication used to treat menopausal symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching, and burning.
Hair loss (alopecia) is a sometimes reported side effect when using hormone replacement therapy, including medicines containing oestrogens. However, with Vagifem, due to its topical application and low dose, the risk of developing such symptoms is usually lower than with systemic hormone therapy.
