According to the summary of product characteristics: "Xanax should be used at the lowest possible effective dose, for the shortest possible time and for a maximum of 2-4 weeks. The patient's condition and the need to prolong treatment should be evaluated frequently, especially if the patient's symptoms decrease or disappear. Long-term treatment is not recommended. The risk of addiction may increase with the dose and duration of treatment." The drug should be discontinued gradually by reducing the dose, as withdrawal symptoms (e.g. headache, anxiety, muscle pain, sleep and mood disorders) may occur. After 4 weeks of daily use of Xanax, you may notice discomfort during discontinuation of the drug. It is difficult to talk about addiction - rather about the habituation of the body to a constant supply of the active substance. I suggest consulting a doctor about the possibility of taking another preparation with a silencing / anxiolytic effect during this period. In case of difficulties related to the end of treatment, you can consult a psychologist, available on our website in the e-visit tab: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja/z-psychologiem I encourage you to read: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-poradzic-sobie-z-nerwica
