Good morning, The doctor for terribly painful menstruation prescribed me Juvinelle but I read that it is not a measure that protects against pregnancy, is it possible to use this drug and another method of contraception? E.g. patches? So that I have protection against unwanted pregnancy?

Juvinelle is a preparation used in Hormone Replacement Therapy. Due to the fact that it is not a contraceptive drug, in women under 50 years of age or in menstruating women, it is recommended to use an additional method of contraception. The use of the drug in relieving painful menstruation is an off-label use (the so-called "off-label" application). The decision to use the drug off-label is made by the doctor based on the patient's history. Juvinelle is a hormonal preparation. During its use, non-hormonal methods of contraception, such as condoms or intrauterine devices (hormone-free spirals), will be safe. Hormonal methods (e.g. patches) may be associated with an increased risk of side effects. The right contraceptive method for you will help you choose a gynecologist for a consultation.
